This course offers a historical and critical overview of film and media theory from the birth of cinema to social media. From ideology critique and cultural studies to theories of narratology and mass media we will read a wide range of theorists, critics, and philosophers including Bazin, Eisenstein, Adorno, Hall, Mulvey, McLuhan, Haraway, Deleuze, and Kittler.
